CLP serving millions in Hong Kong, prioritizes employee safety. Facing declining pass rates in forklift operator exams, CLP sought better training resources. Their traditional model lacked the realism and engagement needed to prepare operators for high-stakes situations. CLP needed a solution that improved competency, fostered safety awareness, and provided a realistic environment for skill development. The goal was to create a training experience that not only enhanced performance but also instilled a deeper understanding of safety protocols and risk management, ensuring the well-being of their workforce.
We identified limitations in their training: retention rates, training time, and hazard simulation. Our solution: a VR forklift simulator integrated with a real forklift. This immersive approach allows trainees to familiarize themselves with equipment safely, bridging theory and practice. The VR booth replicates a real forklift, offering realistic scenarios and hazard simulations. Tutors use a tablet app to program scenarios, providing real-time feedback. This interactive experience enhances skills, fosters safety understanding, and improves competency, creating a safer work environment for CLP employees.
